Private Schools
Other neighborhood school
or private schools
You may be able to enroll your child in a school of your choice through one of the following options:
The Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit Program, for students living in the attendance area of a low-achieving school. (Students don’t have to have attended the school to be eligible for the scholarship.) Visit pghschools.org/Page/1408 or dced.pa.gov/opportunity-scholarship-tax-credit-program-faq/ for more information.
PS-6 Request to Transfer
Families can make a Request to Transfer from their zoned school for safety, family hardship, or other reasons. These requests must be made in writing using PPS’s Form 101. For assistance with a Request to Transfer, you can contact the PPS Parent Hotline at 412-529-HELP (4357).
Open Enrollment
If a neighborhood school still has openings for the upcoming school year as of April, you can enroll at a school outside of your zoned neighborhood school through Open Enrollment. Click here to see an example of the notification the District will post on the pghschools.org website. Please note, there are several restrictions with Open Enrollment, and you must live in the same region as the school of your choice. Visit pghschools.org/domain/1274 for more information.
